If you had to pick just 1 kind of food you think is the healthiest, what would you pick?

Id go with the red Dragonfruit.

For fruits, it would be melons.
For fish, it would be raw salmon.
For milk, it would be goats milk ( of course, mothers milk trumps that)

That's all I can think of now. I also think bee propolis is an almost perfect food, and virgin coconut oil the best oil (made up of medium chain fatty acids). I'm Asian of course and I know lots of Westerners might disagree. :p
Do some research you'll be surprised.

fruits: avocado
fish: salmon
dairy: kefir
meat: turkey
grains: hmmmm...quinoa?
vegetables: brocoli?
oil: I agree maria, coconut oil is great, hemp oil is also REALLY good

I find this question quite goofy.
Any food, eaten in isolation, would be unhealthy.
...
Letsee. You could survive on just eggs, as long as you supplement vitamin c.

Agreed. There are lists of super foods. There is not one that is THE best nor can you solely subsist on.

Why red dragonfruit? It would be an informative thread if the nutritional value of a preferred food was explained.

Its high in vitamins, antioxidants, and it tastes great. Although its not considered a "superfruit".

^ LOL I <3 bacon

I try to eat broccoli when I can. I eat white fish. I can't seem to get myself to like salmon dammit!

I also take a multi vitamin every day since I know my eating habits are crappy and I doubt I get all the nutrients I'm supposed to get.

a lot of fish is good too... like salmon w/ its omega 3s.

Gotta be breast milk- its DESIGNED as a single food to provide all the nutritional requirments of a baby.

Apart from that- peanut butter... Aparently you can live off that stuff for a couple of months no probs... and its all the malnutrition drinks they give kids all contain mega dose peanut butter.

Eggs or chicken for me...I cook ALL of my meals and when my weekly diet is dominated with eggs and skinless chicken breast, I feel the best...

Agreed. It would be impossible to pick one healthiest. I could maybe make a list of the healthiest overall, in different categories, as I see some of you have already done. But ONE healthiest? I don't know. A short list I'd have to pick organic eggs, fresh fruit, tomato sauce, quinoa, brown rice, coconut oil, avacado, and maybe flax.
